What does working with you entail?

Depending on the package you choose from, I will first get to know you, your routines, schedules, diet and medical history and most importantly your goals and vision.  We will work together (its a partnership) to put together a plan of action for your success.  Initial consult, follow-ups, email support and other add-on services will allow you to have greater confidence in your food choices, a better relationship with food, while helping you achieve your goals.

Whats your Nutrition Philosophy?

A healthy lifestyle does not mean you cannot have cookies, a juicy burger, cheese fries or an adult beverage.  I am a foodie, love trying new foods, restaurants, beverages and different culture's foods.  One of the most important relationships in life is food.  An unhealthy relationship can cause various other issues, improving this relationship with all my clients is my umbrella affect.  Saying that, I am a anti-diet dietitian.  You will not receive restrictions at Fit Plate Nutrition, be put on a "diet" or before working with me you eat your "last super." Do not worry you will continue to eat your favorite foods.  I have a realistic approach, a mindful eating approach, a visual approach, and an approach that gives the client power and confidence in his or her food choices.  Food guilt is thrown into a blackhole, never to return again. Food is fuel, an enjoyment, and directly effects how you feel and perform.  I see each client and family as a whole person, customizing my services to you and your goals.  To put is simply, my goal is to improve athletes and families through nutrition.

I know a lot about Nutrition, should I still consider working y0u?

No surprise that my answer is yes!  In today's society aka the internet it is easy to find information on food and nutrition, however....

1) it can be hard to decipher what is myth versus fact, especially in the ever changing world of nutrition and

2) most might understand the basics of food and nutrition, however get stuck with how to actually put their knowledge into action 

Do you offer meal plans?

Yes and no.  I am not a HUGE fan of meal plans, however can most definitely provide this in my service.  With a non=diet approach, I want clients to have freedom when they eat and will not put restrictions on clients. Rather then mean plans I offer meal and snack IDEAS, educating clients on how to build their plate using visual cues.  Meal plans may not allow freedom hence why I most often shy away from them.

Do you do at home visits/meetings?

Absolutely, depending how close/far you live from Oswego, there may be an additional fee (over 30+ miles).  However, in home visits, for at least one meeting is worthwhile as I would be able to see where you eat the majority of the time and all that goes with it i.e. fridge/pantry. 

I do not live in the Chicagoland area, can we still work together?

Yes! My services are both in-person or virtual.  Facetime, Skype, email, phone calls are all ways to communicate together in order to help reach your nutrition goals.

I do not have medical diagnosis, should I still consider working with you?

Absolutely!  Dietitians are experts in nutrition just like a dentist is an tooth expert.  Every 6 months you go to the Dentist to check and clean your teeth.  A Dietitian can check and clean up your eating habits, relationship with food, give guidance, offer credible answers to various nutrition questions, help manage new events or goals and so forth. You do not need to have a medical diagnosis to work with a dietitian, if anything it is a preventative health investment so that you do not have to eventually be a client WITH a medical diagnosis.  

Do you take insurance?

Unfortunately, I do not bill insurance directly and payment is due at the time of service. However, I do provide documentation called a superbill with proper coding that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. If you would like a superbill, I will need a physician referral with your nutrition-related medical diagnosis that can be kept on file.
